The Brett Favre saga could be coming to a long-awaited conclusion, as various news sources report that the veteran NFL quarterback is close to being traded to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Tampa Tribune reports that a trade for Favre between the Packers and Bucs will likely be finalized sometime on Wednesday after Favre told Tampa's brass that he would not stand in the way of a deal.
Also, a source close to Favre told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that although Favre's trade to Tampa Bay was not yet completed, the signs were definitely pointed in that direction. The teams still have to agree on compensation, while the paper added that the New York Jets were not out of the running for Favre's services.
A trade to the Bucs would reunite Favre with head coach Jon Gruden, who was an assistant with the Packers during Favre's first three seasons in Green Bay. The team also runs the West Coast offense with which Favre is familiar, and has the $12 million in salary cap space to add his salary
